Boating in Queensland
New to Boating?
Have just purchased a boat, yacht or jet ski? Or maybe you have owned your boat for a while and would love to take it out more often?
Boating is one of the few activities that the whole family can enjoy together, creating memories that last a lifetime.
So where to now?
You have a boat, now what?
There are many printed publications available from Marine Safety Queensland to assist you in finding the right places to take your boat, tide and weather information. You may also like to consider what activities you will be involved in out on the water as some areas or the coastline such as Moreton Bay are a marine park and some restrictions apply to access and activities out on the water.
Islands
Queensland's coastline offers a vast range of islands ready to be explored. Your boating can provide access to some islands that are otherwise inaccessible by car or ferry. Many islands such as Fraser, Magnetic, South Stradbroke and Bribie Island offer beautiful waterfront picnic grounds to enjoy - you might also stumble across pristine bays, beaches, swimming spots or walking trails. Islands also provide a safe and calm anchoring area if you plan to anchor your boat for a few hours during the day or stay on your boat overnight. Be sure to check with Queensland Parks and Wildlife as to where you can camp and if permits are required.
Getting there
If you're looking to purchase a boat or wanting to trade-in or upgrade, Marine Queensland and its members have put together the only online marine marketplace run by the marine industry for the marine industry. BoatsOnSale.com.au only lists stock held by boat dealers and brokers that are members of Marine Queensland (and it's interstate equivalent Boating Industry Associations). This means that you can be sure that you are dealing with an industry recognised business. Your local Marine Queensland member can help you find the right vessel to suit your needs and budget. Visit www.boatsonsale.com.au for your next boat.
