A school-based apprenticeship primarily for year 11 and 12 students, a school-based apprenticeship allows you to work as a paid employee for a boatbuilding company and undertake training towards a recognised qualification while completing your high school studies. A pre-apprenticeship engineering course or a general pre-vocational course at your local TAFE institute. These courses allow you to gain the skills and knowledge that will be immediately useful to an employer. By completing one of these programs you will improve your chance of gaining an apprenticeship in the boatbuilding sector.
A boatbuilding apprenticeship - a training and employment arrangement between an employer and an apprentice that combines on and off-the-job training with a real job and a real wage. Riviera Marine (Coomera) has established a school-based Apprenticeship Scheme
The school-based apprenticeship scheme is a four-year competency-based apprenticeship resulting in a Certificate III in Boatbuilding. The apprenticeship covers the entire boatbuilding spectrum, including electrical, cabinetmaking and composite technicians. The school-based scheme commences with Year 11 students.
